Videos That Show You How To Crochet A Ponytail Hat

If you’re like me, you often find videos easier to follow than a written pattern or chart. Since the crocheted ponytail hat has gone viral and I posted links to patterns, I thought I’d write up an article that included video tutorials.

How to Crochet a Messy Bun Beanie
This video tutorial is for whipping up a quick and easy ponytail crochet hat. She uses Bernat Softee Chunky yarn in Shadow with an L size hook for the chunky hat in the tutorial and it looks wonderful! A written pattern is also available on Melanie’s website.

Donna Wolfe from Naztazia demonstrates how to crochet a messy bun hat – this one has a nice ribbed effect to it! Pattern includes both adult and child sizes. In this tutorial, she uses Red Heart Unforgettable yarn in Tidal, an elastic ponytail holder, and a G hook. If you are looking for a written pattern, it can be found on her site here.

This messy bun hat reminds me of a sock monkey, and it’s so cute! This crochet hat tutorial is offered by Pretty Darn Adorable Crochet Tutorials, and it’s made with chunky yarn so it works up quick. The pattern calls for 1 skien Loops & Threads Charisma Heather yarn in light gray, Loops & Threads Charisma in red, Loops & Threads Charisma in off white, a 8.0mm hook, and a 6.50 mm hook. You’ll also need a stitch marker for this pattern. I like the ones she uses in her video and you can get similar ones here.

This pattern is for making a super easy beanie in under 2 hours by Crochet Ever After. She uses Facets Yarn by Loops & Threads in black diamond and an L hook. It is worked from the top to the bottom. You can find the written instructions for the hat including a pattern for lefties on her website here.
